World Run Day is Sunday, November 6th. If you haven’t already signed up to celebrate your love for running with the rest of the world, it’s not too late to take part in World Run Day by clicking here.
World Run Day started in 1999 by runner Bill McDermott’ quest to create the ultimate running event. His response to his quest to create the ultimate running event was a global running event he named World Run Day. He selected the date and dedicated the event to his brother that was killed in an automobile accident. World Run Day is observed on the Sunday closest to November 8th every year. The mission of World Run Day is to celebrate the sport of running while promoting the health benefits of running and charitable giving.
For you registration fee of $16.99 via active.com plus whatever donation you want to give to your designated charity, you will receive a World Run Day t-shirt with the design above, custom-made bib number that you can download and print to wear on World Run Day. You can choose the course, the distance you want to run and invite as many or as few friends you want to share this day with.
This is a great opportunity to map out your favorite running course and invite some friends to join in on the fun. You can even make a day out of it and enjoy some breakfast and lunch following your run while you watch the coverage of the NYC Marathon. Just an idea…
I love running so why not celebrate the day with the rest of the world who has the same passion and love for the sport.
Thoughts?? Will you be taking on the role of race director for World Run Day? hmmm… this could be fun… I would love to know if you will be participating- let me know in the comments section.
