Well hello there-
I know that it has been a long time since I posted, but what can I say, I have been a little preoccupied with school. School filled with homework and test after test after test has definitely gotten the better of me. Just when I think that I have clearance and can take a breath, I realize that I have yet another exam to study for. This has been the cycle week after week since I have started school.
Being blessed or cursed with my type A personality, I like to get good grades. I guess all personality types like good grades so I am no exception. But in order to receive the letter of the alphabet you so desire, one must study. I am still enjoying all that I am learning and know for a fact that is exactly what I want to do when I grow up… but never in a million years thought that the human body was so complicated. Let me clarify, I knew that it was complicated but thought I had a good understanding of how things worked with my 25 plus years working in healthcare. Boy, I was wrong. I learned I knew a lot about nothing except for the surface of anatomy and physiology and nothing more.
For every structure from the cellular level (thanks to the Golgi & mitochondria) to each and every bone and its nook, cranny, and projection of the bone I learn, I also need to know the function and what purpose does it serve. Then you need to understand the chemical components and how they are formed and held together with whatever bond the elements need to be happy. Enough about that school stuff, let’s move on to something more interesting.
I did want to share with you that I am in full force training for the Flying Pig Marathon despite my studies. My longest runs have been 2 hours and some change and I am feeling good about upping the mileage in the next month so that I can have several 20 milers under my belt before the big day. That is my goal for now, just hope I stay injury free.
Please don’t forget about Fittitude Freedom and check in with me via the comments every now and then – would love to hear from you… I promise to pop in every now and again as time permits before I am back into full blogging swing.
Off to learn about cellular respiration now… I’m anticipating a pop quiz tomorrow on the topic. It seems that I have developed the radar of knowing when these extra tests will pop up.
Have a wonderful week !
